We just got back from a two-night stay at AKL Kidani but didn’t do the parks. We rented DVC points at around $13pp. To Al’s point in the podcast about saving money on a trip right now – renting is a good option. We’ve even seen some confirmed reservations as low as $9-10pp. Our AKL stay was about the same as what we normally pay at Pop Century. We skipped the parks because we didn’t want to pay the full ticket price for limited hours, no shows, fireworks, etc. We also skipped the parks because we really wanted to enjoy AKL. We have gone to Boma on past trips and have always wanted to stay at AKL, but didn’t want to pay the nightly rate (especially if we are going to be in the parks all day). As for COVID/Social Distancing: no issues with pools, people generally respected 6′ or more spacing, pool deck chairs/tables were spaced well, community hall for kids had limited capacity and followed 6′ guidelines, everyone was wearing masks around the resort, ate easy meals in the room or did take out (Sanaa, local places, etc.)
Good to know. I’ve been toying with the idea of just doing a hotel trip, and AKL is definitely a great choice for that. Poly would be good, too, but apart from the DVC rooms, everything else is under construction.
